The words ‘bitch’ and ‘witch’ are often used as insults in modern day society implying female behaviour that is selfish, arrogant, manipulative and malicious.

Depi Mavropoulou has turned these words around to give them a new meaning:

BITCH is a woman who:

  • Knows she is unique and irreplaceable and is not competitive with other women because aggression, jealousy and competition are qualities that indicate fear, anxiety and lack of knowledge about her true value.
  • Doesn’t abandon her own dreams or compromise her beliefs and desires to please or accommodate others.
  • Has confidence and knows her own strength and beauty regardless of the reaction of others.
  • Is never a "victim" and does not debase herself just to be with someone.
  • Follows the truth of her heart and loves herself.
  • Trusts her instincts, her wisdom and dreams.
  • Is sensitive, caring and kind.

Every woman is a WITCH because:

  • The femininity of her enigmatic existence allows her to create unique, therapeutic, magical, enjoyable moments.
  • There is an ages-old potential inside every woman to harness female power and spirituality for great good.
  • Her monthly cycle, brings Life, Power and Magic into her body and gives her the qualities of the Moon.
  • Her beauty, uniqueness, and sacramental nature make her glorious, wise and enchanting.
  • She has the ability to become a therapist, a visionary and a healer.
  • She is instinctively insightful and intuitive.

How Bitches n’ Witches came about

In November 2009 I was celebrating my birthday in London with some Turkish girlfriends.

It was a really wonderful evening - drinking, eating, dancing, talking, singing Greek, English and Turkish songs, telling stories and at the end telling fortunes through coffee grounds, which Turkish women do so well.

My friends also had some male housemates who started off the evening in their own rooms. But I began to notice that they kept finding excuses to come through the living room where we were to fetch food, drink from the kitchen.

It was clear they were fascinated and wanted to be around us.

I realised that when women are centred and focused on being themselves, relaxed, receptive and doing nothing to manipulate or entice others they exude an irresistible energy and life force.

This was what inspired me to create a group just for women to share our energy and our experiences, to empower ourselves and to support our feminine energy to expand and to create new opportunities for all of us.

Athens was the first place where I launched bitches n’ witches workshops.

Now I am looking forward to helping more women enjoy this workshop and see the benefits of greater happiness and optimism.
